Ok I just got this shredder today, and I had to put a box of mail through it post haste. It does an excellent job of making paper into nothing but animal bedding. It looks like something a rodent chewed up. Now the not so good. It has a power saver that shuts it off after 5 minutes of no activity. Now frankly that isn't an issue for me since I had a box of mail sorted for shredding already. What is annoying, very much so, is the fact that you have to feed one sheet after another or it will shut the blades off. The paper blocks a sensor, that turns on the blades. If you're too slow they stop and have to start again when the next sheet enters the slot. There is a work around for this however, and the blades will keep turning until the bin fills up, and the bin sensor shuts it off. The work around is to take a sheet of paper and fold it into thirds. Then take the bottom third and insert it into the slot, leaving the rest of the sheet lay flat on top of the shredder. This triggers the blades, but isn't in deep enough to get pulled into the shredder. You can still stick paper into the slot and shred away, no interruptions. There's an indicator light on the top that turns on red, when the bin fills up. Just open the bin push the pile of shredded paper down, and continue to top it off. I used plastic double handle bags like you get from the grocery store and lined the bin to make it easier to empty out. The viewing window is small, but the sensor knows when it's full, and you can see through the window even when you line it with the grocery bag. It's quiet too, even when doing plastic cards. Window type envelopes are no problem, but must be fed the long way in. It would have been nice to have the slot about a half inch wider than a number 11 envelope so you could feed them in the wide way. Still it is a really nice shredder for the money, and the confetti can be used for animal bedding, mushroom growing, or compost. Or make fire starters by soaking in melted wax. If you use it for animals, avoid shredding plastic, in case the animals eat any, it won't harm them. I will add a picture of the sheet of paper in the slot to keep the shredder running, it works great.
