Great for future astronomers, nice to sit in the back of a truck or atop a table stand, when ordering think of where you would like to be when star gazing as restrictions of where we live somtimes can hinder the experiment. The best place is far away from all ""unnatural"" light.

Good telescope and good quality but much harder to point and track stars and moon than they let on in the description. You'll want to have some experience before taking on this instrument.

I bought this telescope and set it up.. and the first night I had a chance to use it I was blown away at my view of Jupiter and it's 3 brightest moons. It looks like a bright circle at first when focused, but after a few seconds I could see the lines in it. The moons looked like diamonds and you could tell the larger from the smaller moons. I viewed it through the 10mm eyepiece they sent. The assembly tooks some time but it is well made and the instructions are relatively clear. I am a as amateur as they come at this. But I was quite blown away at how amazing the view was. I just ordered the barlow in hopes of getting a more zoomed look. But this thing is really impressive!Great Job Orion I really enjoyed that.Get it, you won't be sorry

I bought this, after much research on line. Everyone every where online spoke of how easy and quick it was to put together, but I beg to differ. Our base was not pre-assembled and it took my poor husband, who is really good with tools and directions, well over 4 hours to put together. After we got over that ordeal, we were fortunate enough to have a nice clear night to take it out for a look. My kids are still working out the kinks due to not properly reading the directions on how to use telescope , but we were able to view some distant planets or stars. Will probably need to order some better eye pieces as well. Over all Id call the company you order this from and make sure that the base at least is preassembled before they ship it out to you, and read the instruction good before taking it out for a spin !

for my six year old. Found the moon and Jupiter first night. Not much else visible here in Los Angeles on a misty evening.

We love it. Assembly a snap and it came collimated. There were only two bright stars to choose from so we set the finder to them. finding other stars was uneventful. Can't wait till we get this out to the desert..
