Description

At 4.6 oz, the ResQLink distress beacon from ACR weighs less than a couple of energy bars. And topping just 3.9 inches, it's smaller than the cell phone in your pocket. Small and mighty, the ResQLink PLB is a full-powered, GPS-enabled rescue beacon designed for anglers, pilots and back country sportsmen. With three levels of integrated signal technology - GPS positioning, a powerful 406 MHz signal, and 121.5 MHz homing capability - the ResQLink PLB quickly and accurately relays your position to a worldwide network of search and rescue satellites. A built-in strobe light provides visibility during night rescues. Learn How A Rescue Works PLBs have been proven tried and true in some of the world's most remote locations and treacherous conditions. Just ask the 400 or so pilots, boaters and back country explorers who were saved by a PLB during a rigorous test program in Alaska. Based in large part on the test results, the federal government approved use of PLBs in the United States in 2003. Even in extreme conditions and situations, the ResQLink activates easily. Just deploy the antenna and press the ON button. With its powerful 66-channel GPS, the ResQLink guides rescuers to within 100 meters or less of your position. And, in the continental U.S., search and rescue personnel are typically alerted of your position in as little as five minutes with a GPS-enabled PLB such as the ResQLink. Two built-in tests allow you to routinely verify that the ResQLink is functioning and ready for use - with the push of a button, you can easily test internal electronics and GPS functionality.

  • This Personal Locator Beacon is pre-programmed for registration with the US country code. Whilst it will function anywhere around the world, the initial point of contact during an emergency situation would be the US Search and Rescue authorities
  • Should you wish registration outside of the US, please purchase our from our ACR ResQlink Non-Buoyant PLB - Programmed for Rest of World and advise us which country you require for registration. The device can be registered in the country of your choice
  • This PLB is programmed for registration with the US country code. Whilst it will function anywhere in the world, the initial point of contact during an emergency situation would be the US Search and Rescue authorities with whom the PLB would be registered

So far I love it. ONLY TO BE USED IN GRAVE DANGER OR INMINWNT LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS.

I registered the unit and keyed up the complete test signal which has to be done in the top 10 minutes of the hour. It found both the noaa and gps satellite and I got confirmation it was working. Have never had to activate. But it provides piece of mind when out alone. Also provides a little comfort to my relatives who worry when I'm sleeping in places with no cell coverage that if I get into trouble I'll be able to call for help. Also has eliminated the need to do the I'm going to be in this area out of cell range, if you don't hear from my by X time please call 911 and give them my location texts I used to send to a couple friends. This is to be activated in GRAVE OR imminent LIFE THREATENING DANGER when there is no cell service and no other way to communicate and death is coming if help cannot be gotten.

If you look up reviews of PLB's this will be the top recommendation every time. This one or it's floating brother the ResQlink+ model. It's difficult to rate a device that I have yet to use for it's primary purpose but overall it's obvious that this is a well made device. The build quality and feel in hand are excellent. Weights 5 oz's on my scale without lanyard, small weight penalty for the peace of mind it provides.

A must have for outdoor adventures!

I bought this to carry on my outdoor adventures. I got a one year subscription to 406 link too which is a good idea and cheap but not a must. I feel so much safer having this ACR PLB with me. I broke my leg while mountain biking alone in the mountains, luckily this time I was able to ride down the mountain and wait on someone to come along due to no cell service. My friends were pissed that I did not have a PLB to get myself help. Shortly after this accident I bought this ACR PLB and feel so much better having it. It is really small, and packs in a small case I carry on my side along with a small strobe light, and lighter. I highly recommend getting a 406 link subscription. It allows you to send a present text and email to friends and family along with unlimited tests which are sent straight to your cell phone or email. I told my wife that if she get 3 of my preset messages something is wrong. You will want to test your PLB occasionally to make sure it is working properly. 406 link only costs about $60 a year. Ivwould highly recommend this unit to anyone going out of cell phone service for any reason. I have a friend who is a commercial pilot and he never leaves home without one of these.

Cheap Life Insurance!

The ACR ResQlink PLB is cheap life insurance for any outdoor excursions. I've also carried one while traveling to remote areas of the world. There's no subscription to pay; just simply register the device! I can only imagine how many lost/injured hikers, who have passed away on the trail, would still be alive today if they were equipped with a PLB. PLBs are expensive, but cheap compared to your life. Increase your survivability by carrying this small, lightweight device!

Way better than the GeoSpot. I had nothing but problems with that company, and their customer service was horrible. The final blow was when I discovered after a remote backpacking trip that they had cut off my coverage 6 months before and never informed me, leaving me unprotected without realizing it. With ACR ResQlink, you can rely on the US coast guard/NOAA to monitor the emergency beacon, much more reliable than some random company.

Hard to rate this product as I haven't had the need to activate it. And really hope I never have too, but it is nice to know I have the ability to signal for help. The price was good and Amazon Prime had it to me quickly. I did buy a neoprene pouch for it from another site as Amazon did not carry the correct one. I saw people stating that the one up here does not properly fit this model so I searched the interweb and found the right one. Just do a quick google search for a pouch for this model and you will find the correct one.

I said to myself, 'self - what would really bum you out?' and I said, 'I would be really bummed out if my last thoughts as I was floating alone in the cold pacific waters turned out to be: man, I sure am glad I kept that $300 and didn't by that EPIRB.'Small, light. Needs to be carried in a pocket as it doesn't have belt loops.
