Very nice scope at a good price. However the mount for the finder was so miss cast as to be out of finder adjustment range. So some machining was required. Celestron needs to do a better job of inspection of vendor parts.

Pretty decent telescope. Not as powerful as I thought it was going to be, but I did manage to see Jupiter and a couple of its moons in slight detail. The whole tracking thing to compensate for earth's constant movement kinda threw me off. Never did figure that out

I really enjoy the quality for the price on this thing. I'm not an expert and this telescope has made melook like a boss. My kids really enjoy it as well, and the quality of the build means that there isn't much risk of them breaking it.

Right out of the box, this telescope can do so much. It's really easy to see surface detail on the moon, the stripes and moons of Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. And there's still room to upgrade, too. It comes with a 20mm and 10mm eyepiece, which are 50 x and 100 x respectively. The highest useful magnification is somewhere around 228x, so getting a Barlow lens is definitely a worthy investment.

Great telescope for beginners! Bought this for my dad and he loved it. Fairly easy to put together and use. One thing though, the product description is a bit off. The item is definitely heavier than the 15lbs indicated and much bigger in size as well. All in all, good purchase.

First of all, note that this is not a classic Newtonian reflector. It's a Bird-Jones reflector which uses a spherical mirror instead of a parabolic one and it has a corrector+2x barlow under the focus tube. That being said, it is inherently hard to collimate with lasers but its design allows it to be this compact. It would be almost twice as long if it's a classic Newtonian. The image quality is quite great and be sure to collimate well before using it.Collimation can only be done with collimation caps, but the one from Celestron can't fit into the eyepiece (too long and will hit the corrector lens in the focuser.) A shorter one from other brands is recommended. The mount weighs only about 6lb. Super light but not sturdy enough. You may have to add some weights to it.The counter weight is not heavy enough if you add any accessories to the OTA. I would have my counter weights all the way down to the stopper. The scope is impossible to balance in declination as the plastic pad writes ""Celestron"" limits the travel of the rings that holds the OTA. Solution? Saw it off. (or put a heavier finderscope in the front)But this is still very good value! It's so compact and light that anyone can physically carry it out. What can you see:-Moon in detail-Jupiter with color bands And its four moons-Saturn with rings. Cassini division not resolvable-Mars as featureless small discs-Venus as featureless small discs-Nebulae as little smoke smudges-Some double stars

here are some pictures I took of the moon, jupiter, Saturn, and Venus. some dontt look hreat because of my camera trying to focus( it is very dificult to take pictures with a phone without shaking the telescope makong the image blurry) but in real life they all look very clear. you can see the rings of saturn clearly and you can also se the bands of color on jupiter along with it's moons. I recommend this telescope to any beginner.

Purchased this as a gift; unfortunately no where in the description is there indication that the software this comes with has specific requirements for running it. Can't seem to run with a windows 10 DELL laptop (insufficient graphics card). Can't find anything that will help identify the needed graphics card either. As a result, can't use the automated tracking capabilities without upgrading/replacing laptop.
