The telescope is excellent, ergonomics

The telescope is excellent, ergonomics, sharpness, performance are at the rendezvous. An excellent price-quality ratio, there is not really equivalent to this price, for such a performance. Aesthetics is also very nice. The object deserves its 5 stars without hesitation, although I would not say the same for the tripod Celestron 82052, a little complicated to mount and especially to adjust. Stability is essential when you raise x40 or more. I would have prefered to take another tripod than the one recommended because of the documentation that is not clear enough for its complexity of the tripod. Anyway, the purchase of the Regal M2 100 ED can be made eyes closed.

Crisp, bright image!

Got a deal on the 100mm so I got that instead of the 80. It's big! You definitely want a sturdy tripod, and even then you get a little shake at high zoom. But the optics are great!I love the dual focus knob, it makes it easy to quickly get a basic focus, then perfect it once you're locked onto the subject. You do have to adjust the focus a bit when you zoom in or out.The image is clear and bright at all magnifications!I took some pictures with my iphone 5s, handheld up against the eyepiece. It takes some practice to do it right quickly, but it's really handy for getting a quick reference picture. Hard with birds that flit around and are constantly moving. The bird feeder shots are at 22x magnification, as well as the tree full of cedar waxwings. The closeup on cedar waxwings is 67x, and that was approaching dusk. The colors and resolution are much better with the naked eye than with the phone pictures. I'm excited to try digiscoping with a DSLR with it!

I love to watch birds and ships out in the ocean. This was a big surprise when my husband showed it to me. We spotted a red tail hawk across the canyon behind our house, sitting in an oak tree and could even see it's yellow stripe beside his beak. Great definition.

pros:- sturdy construction, well built.- sharp images throughout zoom range.- smooth focusing- fine adjustments is a breezecons:- digiscoping with dslr (nikon D3300) does not produce tac sharp images. Better quality obtained with camera with smaller iris.

A great spotting scope

A massive optic for the great outdoors. Just make sure you have a heavy duty tripod. This beast weighs in at 5 pounds. The ED glass makes for sharp clear images. It should also be good for pointing it at the moon and the stars. I need more time off.

Far better than the price would lead you to believe. After reading tons of reviews on various scopes I took the chance I picked the Celestron. Glad I did.

Solid Scope for the money.

Purchased for spotting rifle targets up to 300 meters and limited digiscoping.Fit and finish are excellent. All controls work smoothly and positively. No chromatic aberration seen during day, desert conditions. Lens cover and eyepiece cover feel robust and attach firmly to the scope to protect the glass. Can see individual leaves on trees over 400 yards away at 60 x with no apparent image degradation. Some folks reported problems with the nylon storage bag; however, mine fits perfectly. My only minor gripe is that the zoom function on the eyepiece twists counterclockwise (left relative to the user) to increase, which is counter-intuitive to me. All my other zoom riflescopes and binos twist right/clockwise to increase magnification. Not enough to remove a star, it just threw me the first time I tried to zoom and wondered why the ring wouldn't turn.Still need to try it in overcast, twilight and night conditions, and run a star test to fully evaluate the scope. However, I'm happy with it and confident it will more than meet my needs for a spotting scope.

A little pricey but worth it!

My wife and I use the scope mostly for birding but I have also taken it out in the evening to look at the moon. The scope is easy to use and I'm really impressed by the clarity of the images it produces including eagles more than 200 yards away and the moon a long, long way away.

Have not seen a better set of Optics on the range since. Sharp and clear with a great microfocus. Lots of cheaper junk (bought two before this) that are not worth the money and lots of very high end, but this seems to be as good as the $4000 unit. Right in the sweet spot. Use a very good mount or vibration will limit you.
