A6 vs. A5.2

I'm 88 years old, don't wear glasses, and don't text, but I wanted a smart phone just for pleasure. I've had two BLU phones. I will compare and contrast them, in the event you are shopping.I had an Advance 5.2 for some weeks. It has an all-metal case that will not open. You need to put a tiny tool in a tiny hole in one side, and out will come a tiny tray that will hold only a small SD card, and a nano sim. That's it. The size is great, and it seems well-made. I was wanting something larger, so reading text would be easier, and I don't plan on using it as a phone that much, so I was looking at the Advance A6. I received it yesterday, and I am delighted. What's great is that the entire back comes off, and you can access two sim slots and an SD slot with the battery out or left in. My hands are large, so the size isn't an issue, but it might be awkward for petite ladies. I also had a Blackberry Leap, which wouldn't even look at sims I tried, so back it went. The A6 greedily accesses sims and memory cards with glee. If there is any down-side, it could be battery endurance, but I will not make a judgment on that until my experiments are concluded. You are advised to do a few cycles of full to empty, and I'm awaiting hitting empty for the first time. It doesn't seem to suck out much power on idle, so I guess I'll have to task it a bit to drain the sucker out. At this point, I couldn't be a happier camper. I sincerely hope this helps you.

I am pleasantly suprised. The software is great. The phone is not glitchy and has a pretty fast touch to react time. Overall this is a great phone for someone on a budget. Also as an added bonus it came with a screen protector and case.

Phone works great. Very responsive

Phone works great. Very responsive, fast, and great picture. Only thing misleading is the second nano sim slot is the SD card slot. Cannot use both, is an either or. I only have one phone plan, so no big deal. I use the SD slot for my Amazon music. Swipe keyboard is great, predictive text works awesome. Only complaint is that there are almost no cases available. Does come with a clear flexible case.

This phone is great so far. Super easy to setup and get working on my phone plan thru my carrier. Sound is great on calls and seems to work perfectly for me.Has a one yr warranty which is is to set up first thing using you phone.Came with a screen protector, ear bud headset to both added an added plus as I see it. I have seen this phone in one of the big box store for 30 bucks more. I've haven't seen any down side so far with this phone. Need a new phone so this is it. I'm not one to use a phone for web or gaming I have far better devices for that it's a phone to me So it has all the bells and whistles I want plus more I'd believe there. I would recommend it to anyone needing good phone without breaking they bank to get one.

I purchased two of these (wife and I) for a trip to Belize, Central America. I wasn't sure of what to expect there. Got sim cards (put into sim slot 2) and prepaid service plans from Digicell (BTL).My wife's phone had to be reset twice. Then it seems to have worked well since. In the hot climate the battery charging was a challenge. It tended to overheat and cause issues. That is why the second phone had to be reset. It got hot and started doing interesting things. After we started powering off and charging at night during the hottest times it worked fine. Now home in the Pacific Northwest, no problems. My phone has worked almost flawlessly, with the exception of the battery charging issue. My normal US phone died (Black screen) so when I got back, I purchased a sim card from our local carrier. Because this is a GSM phone and the carrier with the best coverage for our house is CDMA, I had to get a booster for inside the house. (It is just a dead spot for GSM, because outside our immediate area I can up to get 4G). Since coming home, this is my full time phone. I have had it since 2 April 2018 including the two month Belize trip.Good point is that you can use Wi-Fi hotspot or USB tethering for internet sharing.Good bright screen, pretty good camera. Camera takes good pictures outside, a little grainy inside or low light. Got some really nice sunset pics! The fact that both front and back cameras have flash is a nice feature.I like the position of the controls. The sound could be a bit louder for me but using the phone it is okay.Overall I think it's a keeper.

Great price on this phone, super big screen, great for videos!

This is a decent, inexpensive phone . It has a very large screen, beautiful for watching YouTube,Amazon prime video etc. Functions well in use as a phone and video player. This does not have much RAM or storage room however so if you like a lot of apps, this phone probably isn't for you. It does work reasonably well for Facebook and Messenger. It quickly fills up when apps are updated and you get constant warnings that you are running out of space. It has a lot of preinstalled apps that not everyone uses and they take a lot of space. Japanese input keyboard is one such app that I have no use for and cannot remove. I was also annoyed that Blu has surreptitiously added more such useless apps into it's system update such as a Blu rewards app that is basically bombarding your phone with advertisements for which you can earn rewards for interacting with. Super annoying! You cannot remove this app once installed with the update . Again-super annoying as it takes up valuable limited space. This can thankfully at least be disabled. To be fair, this phone does say it will accept a large capacity memory card however I have not tried this yet and it may resolve some issues. I have noticed what I'm calling a bit of instability in the system as it sometimes seems to open random apps at it's own volition. So to sum up. it's a decent basic smartphone for the casual user. Great for on the go video entertainment, not so great for a multitude of apps. It does come beautifully packaged, comes with some decent earbuds and a plastic case for protection. Probably a great phone for elderly users do to large screen size or for youngsters wanting their first smartphone or as I've said before great for watching videos. I hope this review is helpful!

This is cheapest phone I could find, and works better than my very expensive iPhone. I am very happy customer.

I use both this phone and iPhone. The iPhone cost more than ten times what this BLU did, and I think they work about the same. They both have all the same functionality and are about as easy to use. This is excellent technology that just works. It was the cheapest phone I could find. It works just as well as the most expensive. I am very happy customer. Long battery life. Fast charge times. Standard accessories. Easy set up.

Speaker not loud. Battery last 3 - 4 hours. But nice phone

This is a nice phone and for the low price for a 6"" phone, I knew the modest specs and didn't expect spectacular performance.Good display - color and sharpnessGood mic for dictation in my email writingHas OTG function which I formatted to FAT32Nice feel and handling of phone.Although ROM is 8 GB, it has about 4 GB for user; better than the big name phones with their unremovable bloat ware or those from the phone carriers (AT And T bloat ware even hogs the display). The speaker volume is quite low even at max - not good for listening to lecture MP3 recordingsMost apps take a second or two to run, which is acceptable in view of low price. When surfing and youtube watching, battery lasts between 3 - 4 hr inspite of estimates displayed as 6 hr.What pushed me to return it was that every day when powering up, it would not recognize my micro SD card, and needs to be rebooted. I notice that even in a few Samsung reviews people complained of the same problem. Though not a common problem in phones, the hassle is not worth it. One time, the BLU just froze up, black screen, and refused to budge. So I plugged in the power, push the on-off button few times and it work. Strange because the battery was about 70% remaining. If you are lucky in not encountering this non-recognizing SD problem, then it is a good phone for the low price. I have two other BLU phones for 3 years which perform well, even in the rough treatment when boarding planes and scanning the Boarding Pass on the BLU screen on many flights in Europe. My BLU phones work very well for phone calls in Europe and Asia using their local SIMs.

Great Phone Not Alot of Support From BLU

It's a great phone. However, when looking at BLUs website, it would seem that the A6 does not even exist. There is not mention of it anywhere. Oversight?

I cracked my Galaxy S9+ screen, and sent it back to Samsung to get a factory repair. I bought this phone to use for the next week or two Wow Listen, it is not fast, it doesn't have an HD screen, but OMG, it does EVERYTHING my S9+ can do (a little slower) and it is 60 dollars!I had to buy a sim card adapter (3 bucks) to put my nano sim in the micro slot, but that's it It runs on ATT 4G, youtube works, directv app works, messaging, whats app, it all works It is unreal.
