Replacement for one of my HX300 cameras

I have three of the HX300 cameras. The oldest, about 4 years old, began showing error code E 62:10 quite some time ago. Although irritating, it didn't seem to affect picture quality. Recently that changed, as did the functioning of the lens. Cost for repairs was not much less than buying new so that's what I did in purchasing the HX400V.Having just recently received this camera, I've only used auto settings. Examples of photos are included in this review. Unlike other buyers, I'm not interested in the wi fi or some of the other features of this camera. Most of my photography is of wildlife. The majority of that is done through the windows of my home and may require post editing for exposure. Images can be easily cropped and remain sharp. All my cameras are set up on tri pods though rarely I will shoot hand held. I purchased a B And W 55 mm Clear UV Haze filter, a GHYC Tempered Glass LCD Screen Protector, and the Wasabi Power Battery (2-pack) and Charger for this camera. There are several videos on You Tube showing how to use this camera and I would strongly recommend viewing. I am giving it 4 stars at this point but that may change after I've had more time using it.

Love, love, love this camera! Especially for outdoor photography. A GREAT zoom lens on it. Light and easy to carry. We took a trip to Greece and I used it the first time. I put together a digital photo album of the trip and people could not believe I had not 'doctored' the photos. I am not having as much luck with indoor photos with it yet. I don't think it is the camera as much as I need some guidance on my indoor flash settings. Highly recommend!

Takes good pictures but I really hate how the dial is

Takes good pictures but I really hate how the dial is so easy to hit with my thumb and change the settings. Camera will often times take blurry pictures for no reason at all. Would be nice if the settings could be locked. If this one breaks, I wouldn't replace it with the same thing.

Takes amazing pictures! I am a total armature photographer and just wanted a nice quick point and click camera. I tried the Cannon Quick Shot camera but the photos were horrible, blurry and out of focus, I am an armature photographer but know how to operate a basic camera. I have had the Sony Cyber-Shot before and it lasted years, but nothing lasts for ever and it was time to buy new. I love the ease of taking photos, it truly is a point and click. The shutter speed is fast and you don't have to wait a long time for the camera to snap the picture. I do wish it would automatically sync with my smart phone and upload each time a pic is taken, and it might I just have not gotten that far into the app / camera settings yet. Easy set up for WIFI and does connect easily. For me the price was high but well worth it.

Out of all of the bridge cameras I've ever used (there are many) this one is my favorite. The high zoom and focus ring are two things I'd never want to be without again. The sensor size is a little small and it has some formatting issues, but what do you expect for under $500?

Excellent Bridge Camera

There are a lot of reviews online about this camera saying that the image quality isn't good. Ignore those reviews. This is an excellent bridge camera. A lot of people are expecting the image quality from this camera to be comparable to the quality you get from a DSLR, but that cannot be. The sensor in this camera is substantially smaller than the one found in a DSLR (crop-sensor or full-frame). Because the sensor is smaller, the dynamic range and overall image quality cannot be equal to the dynamic range and image quality of a DSLR. But if you know what you're doing, you can use this camera to get some great images.I've had this camera for a few months now, and used it mainly to photograph birds, and I am extremely satisfied with it. The zoom range is fantastic, and the autofocus is pretty good. You can achieve pretty good bokeh (the quality of the out of focus areas in a photograph) and nice, shallow depth of field once you zoom in and isolate your subject. Colors are pretty true, and the camera can yield very sharp images provided your technique is good. I recommend that you use a tripod with this camera and any camera if you're going to be using it in telephoto mode a lot, as I do.Being a bridge camera (a fixed-lens camera that is between a point and shoot and a DSLR), you're able to use this camera in Aperture Priority Mode, Shutter Priority, and Manual Mode. There are some automatic modes, but I never use modes like those on any of the cameras I own because they limit your creative flexibility when taking photographs. You're able to take HD video as well, but since I'm not too much into video I haven't tested the video capabilities of this camera yet. But I have shot some simple, short clips of birds flying around, and those videos came out great. This is an excellent bridge camera, and I recommend it to anyone. Even if you shoot predominantly with DSLRs (like I do), this is still a great camera to have for those days you don't feel like lugging around a bag full of lenses or a really heavy DSLR body.I've attached some photos I took using this camera so you can get a taste of the camera's performance. All of the pictures were taken in an aspect ratio of 16:9, and all of the photos were taken with the camera being handheld.

Great camera and good quality images for the price

I very rarely post product reviews, but before I purchased this camera I read some mixed reviews so I thought it would be prudent of me to share my thoughts.I do a lot of work on social media and needed a basic point and shoot camera for my posts. I was concerned primarily with the image quality that this camera produced after reading a lot of negativity in that regard on this camera BUT after having it for a couple days and taking pictures of everything from my three kids, plants/trees, and other objects I can say that this camera has superb image quality for the price and the level of expertise this camera requires (which isn't a high level). Is it DSLR level? No, but in the right lighting it can certainly compete with some DSLR images. You just need to play around with it some and find what lighting works and what different modes work for your needs. You can get some really high quality images with this camera, and for the price you just can't beat it. I also LOVE the feature where I can upload my photos directly to my iPhone from my camera. Saves a lot of time. Highly recommend this camera.
