Great Camera

The screen on these cameras is great so you can take more selfies without some dumb selfie stick. The clarity and resolution is also really great. Takes great photos and is small so it packs easily.

I bought this camera and everything works fine, in fact I love almost everything this little guy can do for vlogging and youtube, BUT the seller sold it to me with a flash error. The camera flash doesn't work. Wtf. Not cool man

So far, so good! I make YT family videos, and I needed something less heavy than my expensive cameras. All I need to be able to find is a wind reducer (has nothing to do with this particular camera, just for one like this in general) but I like the pop up flash and view finder. The LCD screen is great. Wish it could turn in like my more expensive one for protection, but I will buy a protector for some kind of help with that. I have little kids, so it's hard. Bought the protection though, LOL. Love this upgrade from the $265 lower end model thus far. Not real heavy and bulky, and it gets the job done! Pics and vids come out great! I will update when I use it more! PS- holds a nice long charge, which I NEED!

Love, love, love! I wanted a nice point and shoot so I didn't have to lug my bulky DSLR around. It's easy to use and takes great photos. It's nice and compact. The rotating screen is one of the features I love. I am not of the selfie generation but 5th is camera makes it easy for those of us who find taking a selfie challenging. The electronic viewfinder is another feature I love. It makes shooting photos in bright light easy. It's also nice to frame your photos, especially if your used to using a viewfinder on your DSLR. The camera is easy to use for a novice and has enough control over the settings to make it advanced enough for a advanced photographer. I considered the HX90 but the difference in features for the $100 more in price was negligible. I am more than satisfied. I can't wait to use it on my next adventure- hiking the Grand Canyon!

This is a fabulous LITTLE camera - did I say little? This camera can fit in a pocket but the zoom is pretty amazing - I added some photos that I took with the camera over the last few weeks. I'm still learning but the neat thing about it is that the Auto settings make pretty good pictures. It also has a wide angle for portraits or landscapes. The pictures come out with vibrant colors and the focus is fast. I recommend this if you don't want to go all out for a DSL and need something besides your cell phone. I'm very please with the purchase. The popup electronic view finder sold me on this camera - not many in this price range have the view finder - much better than trying to focus using the LCD. Also, be sure to pull the EVF all the way up and then pull the insert all the way back to engage it.

Good pictures, bad design

I switched from Panasonic to Sony after reading good reviews for this particular model. The good: It takes good pictures. The bad: the back side is crowded with too many buttons, with no space to rest the right hand thumb when holding the camera (and I have a small thumb!). I often find myself pushing one, thus opening/changing a feature before taking the picture I am aiming to.There is also a lot of motor noise when taking videos. I contacted Sony customer service, they never replied. Now I remember why I shouldn't buy Sony.

I have used this far more than its expensive brother (RX 100 MIII) because of the zoom. We took this to the Galapagos and it took excellent pictures.

I am very pleased with this little camera. I use it for recording my backpacking trips, mostly. It is easy to use and records great footage. Check out my YouTube channel The North Force to see the camera in action. Peace.

Great little camera, viewfinder too small for me.

I liked this camera very much but unfortunately had to return it. The image quality is great for this sensor size and one can take amazing telephotos even at the high end. ISO is usable up to 400-800.The deal breaker for me was the viewfinder size. I'm used to (and I enjoy much more) taking pictures with the EVF 90%+ of the time, and its presence was the main reason I chose this camera. However this one was simply too small for me. It was like looking at a TV in the end of the room, and since I'm slightly astigmatic this lead to severe eye strain and even headaches. Unfortunately (as I found out later) all high zoom pocket cameras seem to have the same size VF, so I hesitated a lot but in the end it had to go back - the EVF was simply unusable for me.I hope some of the camera manufacturers read these reviews, it would cost next to nothing to provide a usable EVF - and growing the body size by a few mm is more than worth that IMO.

The perfect camera for backpacking!

This camera is super compact and has loads of quality features. My wife and I took this backbacking around New Zealand and Montana. Amazing quality images with incredible zoom in such a small and light weight package. The popup view finder is a big plus too. Selfies are super easy with the screen that flips up and over the top. I did manage to scratch the viewing screen a little bit after putting it in my pocket (accidentally, with car keys), but other than that the construction is robust. It is even fairly water resistant. We've hiked through rain forests and very humid areas without any trouble, despite a little condensation in the camera case. The battery life is good and it's easy to charge with the USB connector. The wifi photo sharing option when paired with a smartphone and app is pretty cool too!
