Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard Lens for Canon SLR Cameras - Fixed
As a professional photographer over 15 years, I owned three of these lenses and they all broke at various different times. Finally I had mine fixed and sold it. Bought the sigma 50mm (non ART), and it has not failed me. Do yourself a favor and skip this. This is one of the worstly made Canon lenses I owned.
It's cheap for a fast 50 mm 1.4 lens however it's a steel if you look at it the other wayThis is the second f/1.4 50 mm i bought from canon. The first one broke because I dropped the camera and focus rain stopped working. But when you're paying this low price for a lens that can shoot with practically candle light you can't complain too much about build quality. Bottom line is lenses are expensive and this baby is hard-core it doesn't leave my camera it's my go to lense. Just be careful it's fragile
Great broken and sharp as a tack!
good quality, great focus and class, material is awesome. still a canon fan!
Sharp lens, such a versatile focal length. Was going to buy refurbished, but it only saves $20 or so, so TREAT YOSELF, and get yourself this guy
Amazing starter lens, good build, and great for a first beginner lens. Great for low lighting shoots and portraits.
This Lens is on to a update for sure! It was released on 1993. So definitely an update is on the way. Possibly with image stabilization and real ring USM. Although this lens says USM it uses micro USM or some thing. This lens does not focus fast. Some even suggest new EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is faster than this on AF department. I compared with EF 50 f/1.8 II (The one came before STM) and the focus speed is similar. Although that lens didn't have f/1.4, at f/1.8 sharpness is exactly same. That lens is portable as well. Only downside of f/1.8 lens is it has very narrow focus ring and plastic mount. This comes with metal mount. Both lens need to be stop down to f/2 if you are pixel peeper. at f/2.8 you get very good improvement and super sharp from f/4.Before buying this check 50mm f/1.8 STM. It is far cheaper. I'm sure there is update on the way for this lens If canon to keep EF lenses. There is a possibility that canon may not make any other EF lens because of mirror less cameras. You can't do focus recompose < f/2. I had very bad experience using this with my T2i because it's AF points are clustered in center. It had only one cross type in center. When I recompose things were not sharper wide open. If i'm shooting in T2i below F/2 I always use Live view.Apart from what said above I have used this lens on f/1.4 and got acceptable result. Because I'm not a pixel peeper. Here are few shots
I can not complain. I like this lens so I recommend 100 percent and also I got a nice deal
I didn't immediately notice the focusing issues and first thought it was my older 60D, so I upgraded to a 70D and guess what? Still had soft focus issues. It's an amazing lens for headshots on a crop sensor, but mine was really hit or miss. Makes me miss how sharp the 1.8 is so I may go back since I can't afford to upgrade.
love, love, LOVE this lens! I'm so happy I didnt go with the cheaper version. it has a awsome field of view and the back ground bocen is beautiful and creamy. one of my favorite lenses!
Recieved the item sooner than expected! Was listed used- very good and indeed it was. It was like new! Everything seems to be working and there has been nothing wrong with the picture quality.Very pleased.
