I needed to dampen the hearty ding since we work in a small, quiet office. Still, in my back office I need to know if someone came or left the office. I put duct tape on the chime, glued in some foam board from my framing hobby, and blocked the sound holes. Works perfectly. The best part, it's mechanical. I've read nothing but negative reviews of electronic chimes not working on metal door jambs (which I have) and the inability to control the sound among other issues. With a few hand-made tweaks, I got exactly what I wanted. Thanks, E-Z Tone!
