Own same one for 19yrs and still works like a charm

Happy to see they still make this ! I bought the same calculator 19 years ago when I was in college in a store. I used it all through college and still use the same one almost daily 19 years later ! My kids even used it in high school. It's better than the expensive ones and does just as much. It's the most reliable and amazing calculator. Still works like the day I bought it ! I'm so glad I found another, they don't make products like this anymore ! Highly recommend! I had to buy another to leave at work.

My parent's bought me this model calculator when I started 6th grade (2006). I used it for every Math class, every year, until I finished my undergraduate. The battery just gave in early 2017. That's incredible to me. I loved it.I still need a calculator every so often, so I purchased the same model.

Need a calculator, this is a great option

You guessed it! It's definitely a Scientific Calculator.A little background (skip to the next part for review of this calculator)-I've had a Casio calculator for 20+ years, and it finally broke! After parts of middle school, high school, a little bit of college, living in a closet, living in a tool box, living in my car, and being stuffed in boxes and constantly being tossed around and generally being used and abused the Casio tapped out. Of course I had a TI-83 graphing calculator (as most people do) as required for some of my classes, but those are long gone. As I started going to community college in an attempt to change career paths, I found myself needing a calculator and the last Casio I had had finally been so beat up it quit working and the LCD screen had somehow cracked.Enter Casio FX-300MS. As I found myself in need of a scientific calculator, I came across this. It reminded me of my trusty old Casio, so I bought it for just under $9. I've now used it for 3 months, and it's great! The calculator does everything you'd expect it to and then some. I don't know about you, but I've never used all the functions on a calculator and probably never will. This calculator's buttons are easy to push and don't require you to deliberately push the buttons (like you're mad at it) and most of the buttons are where you'd expect them to be. It's lightweight and is slightly bigger than my GS7.

Favorite calculator in school and at work.

I bought one of these as a poor PhD student and used it all the way through graduate school. Used it periodically at my first job out of school when I am too lazy to open up statistics software for some simple calculations. Recently I need another one for my new job and thought I lost my old calculator and just ordered a new one from Amazon. Well the next day I found my old one and it's still going strong after 10 years (I think the price hasn't changed since 10 years ago), but I decide to keep the new one so I can have one at home when I work remotely. This one has comfortable big keys and beats the calculator on the computer or online any day. Would recommend to anyone who needs a reliable and everyday scientific calculator.

Accountant addicted to this model-still going strong!

This calculator is INCREDIBLE! I had just re-ordered (and already received) the exact same model (fx-300MS) that I had for MANY MANY years and the screen had JUST started to fade. I didn't even bother replacing the battery for first time-as SOON as I saw Casio still offered this exact same model and for a FANTASTIC price. Honestly, I would have paid a $50 for this calculator- as long as none of the components have changedand they haven't! I used it at work today- and thrilled to say it is exactly the same but even better as the screen is of course much brighter! As someone who works in accounting/finance- this calculator is a must-have. You can enter huge strings of equations or numbers without needing to start over if you make one mis-type. (I despise the AC button on regular calculators- as I associate it one tiny mistype within a 60 number sequence.)My co-workers frequently borrow this calculator-(preferred over our 'company bought' ones simply for the lack of headache!) Major attributes: 1.) LONG LIFETIME! (I never had to change batteries on last one and had it for over half a decade- if not longer. (Using on a constant/daily basis.) 2.) You can delete (backspace as if it is on your computer) throughout long strands of numbers you are enteringall clearly displayed atop the display screen. For example: With entering taxes- adding up 20 different totals for receipts- they are all clearly displayed atop the screen. If I mis-type a number- I simply back space and re-type number in. No need to clear out and start again. Fantastic feature that makes me truly believe for the money, (actually I just don't know of another calculator that compares at this point) this one is top notch in my books! SO thrilled with the seller for how quickly they sent this perfectly un-wrapped calculator.and CASIO for not dis-continuing it! I adoreand believe you will too.

Good Calculator, nice price

ProsNice price for a good calculator that has solar panels. I really like the ""ANW"" button to put previous answers into a new equation. I also like the ""EXP"" button to type quicker scientific notation. Another thing is that the buttons are real responsive to which is awesome for quick calculations.ConsThe only thing that bugs me really is that the off and on button are way to far apart. The on button is on the top up most to the right (of the picture) while the off button is Where the ""AC"" button is and you have to press ""shift and AC"" to turn off. I does turn off by itself, its really a habit of mine since I use a Texas instrument graphing calculator that runs on batteries, and I would try to conserve, but I guess you don't really need to turn it off since its solar powered. Another thing about the transition from calculators is the different symbols compared to the Texas Instrument graphing calc. which bugs me, but other than that, its really good.

Scientific Calculator by Casio is a Winner

I should say that the teacher for whom I purchased this calculator loves it. I'm in a special education unit in high school and am responsible for purchasing the things that the school doesn't buy directly. One of our teachers needed a scientific calculator and I decided on this one for all its functions, for the cost value, and the fact that it's a Casio, a very reliable brand. It's working just fine and never runs down or is hard to start just because it's been in the drawer over the weekend. The teacher for whom I purchased it is thrilled with it, and the students are getting their use of it in almost every period. This is a winner because of its cost value, its functions, the brand name reliability, and the great price. I'd buy it again without any hesitation.

Sturdy, reliable and convenient

The calculator industry (?) keeps coming out with newer and newer iterations of its iconic line of graphing calculators and I've certainly used my fair share of them. But that was in high school and college, when I was delving in the arcane world of transcendental functions, parabolic curves and differential equations. Now in a neuroscience lab, the most complex math calculation I probably have to make on a daily basis is the humble dilution equation (M1V1 = M2V2). Obviously I don't need the firepower of a TI-83 for that. That's where this Casio calculator comes in. Reasonably priced, it has all the functionality I need. It is dual-powered so I never have to worry about replacing batteries. Best of all it is remarkably sturdy, so even if I drop some reagents or something similarly nasty (like two-days old ramen) on it, it keeps chugging right along. In this day and age of ultra-fast smartphones packed with eye-popping features and cluttered with fancy apps, the scientific calculator is often seen as a lonely sad relic of a bygone era. It is almost impossible to believe that this gadget was once considered a true marvel of technology. Here is a toast to this humble yet extremely efficient helper.

Cheap but definitely not a ""cheapie""
by Valued Customer on September 14, 2016

I love the calculator. The price is incredible, it doesn't feel necessarily cheap, and does anything you realistically need with a calculator. The screen is two lined, and you can cycle through all the different modes you might want to put it into. The screen is pretty high contrast and easy to read and overall, this calculator gives you the most bang for your buck by far. My only gripe with the product is the keys can feel slightly wobbly at times. They're very light, and it's fairly easy to type, and the types always register which are all good things, however sometimes it feels so wobbly and light that I had to double check to see if the key went through which it always does. All in all 9.5/10

Nice inexpensive scientific calculator suitable for Junior high students.

I purchased two calculators for my son, this one (Casio fx-300MS) and also the Casio fx-115ES Plus). Both calculators appear to have similar functions and the same layout. My son so far have gravitated to using the fx-300MS more. I think this is due to him previously using this calculator in elementary school. The fx-115ES seems to have more scientific functions which may be more useful at the high school or college level as long as you do not need a graphing calculator. Both are battery and solar powered. Overall am happy with the purchase and as a bonus both calculators allow easy entry of fractions and returning the answer as either a decimal or fraction which has been great since my son has been having a hard time getting the concept of multiplying and dividing fractions. Lets him double check his work (I still make sure he is show his work and individual steps). This should get him through to 9th grade, when he will be required to use a graphing calculator for some of his classes.

My Favorite Scientific Calculator

I already knew I loved this product when I bought it, because it's the exact model of the one I lost and needed to replace! This calculator is fantastic, affordable, and has everything a biochemistry major who can't bring a graphing calc to an exam could need. The exponents, logs, and stat tests are all easy to use (though, you will need to read the manual for the stat tests) and the solar power works great. This is my favorite calculator, and has served me well through my college years. It's super durable, and the only reason I need to replace it is because I lost my other one (a very sad day).

Best for land surveyors!

I bought this to replace my lost one after 17 years. I use this unit on a daily basis in my work as a land surveying party chief. It commutes in my lunch box and I carry it in my pocket through the fields, woods and swamps of Florida. The cover protects the keys and the size is good for pocket carrying. Solar power means never having to carry spare batteries.I use degrees, minutes and seconds for azimuth and bearing calculations; I use it for triangle calculations; I use it for fraction calculations of architectural plans for layout and the memory registers for scale and correction factors. It is my go-to for all those little quick calcs that my multi- thousand dollar data collector is too busy or cumbersome to do.If I had to specify a calculator for land surveying at this price point, it would look exactly like this!
