Solid, easy to use tripod.

I use this tripod mostly for shooting night scenes and astronomy photography. While I consider myself an amateur photographer, the need for a solid, easy-to-use-in-the-dark tripod became apparent when my earlier tripods would move when the camera shutter activated. Not so with this tripod. I also attach a fairly powerful set of binoculars to it to provide steady viewing. Solid as a rock. This is both light and solid, the attachment plate is all metal and easy to get on and off. I bought an extra one to have on different cameras. All around, solid product. Would recommend.

I love the Tripp's. It's solidly constructed. It's a little stiff to start, but loosened up. The only complaint I have is the zipper broke on the carrying case.

August 02:This tripod is great. Sturdy enough for my Pentax k-s2 with an f4.5-6.3/55-300 mm lens.I'll update this review once I try it outdoors.

I like the ballhead the most because it's easy to move. I also like the bubble level. The bottom section of each leg is a little flimsier than I'd like. Otherwise everything is OK.

Best beginner tripod

After owning for over two years:While a little longer when folded than some other, more expensive tripods, this tripod has held up wonderfully, with features not found on tripods three to four times it's price. It has been rock solid, and has held up perfectly. I've used it in the snow, fresh and salt water, the beach, Rocky outcrops, and I've never felt my camera was in danger. And through all of this, only a small amount of superficial rust has accumulated on the screws for the adjustable feet, but those feet still function flawlessly.I've never had a leg unlock, and I've never pined for a taller tripod. Fully extended, and with my camera backpack on the hook, the tripod is still plenty steady for long exposures. My buddy has had more problems with his manfrotto and meefree tripods. Yes, it's inexpensive, but this is one case where price doesn't always indicate quality.

The stability was great and the overall experince was very good

I received my Dolica GX600B200 Proline GX yesterday and put it through a few preliminary paces. I have a very heavy, stable, high-end tripod, but I needed something that could travel well and be taken on hikes, etc. I tested the Dolica tripod with a Nikon D3200 and both the kit 18mm-55mm lens and a heavier 55-200mm zoom lens. The stability was great and the overall experince was very good. Using the rubber feet indoors and the spikes (revealed by screwing in the rubber feet) outdoors, I got a stable platform for this camera/lens combination. The tripod is easy to adjust and intuitive. It unpacks and packs up quickly. The ball head is very nice and smooth to operate; the lock nuts are very fast. The pan movement is flawless. Connecting the plate to the camera and inserting into the ball head is easy and feels secure, although the base does wobble a bit when it's not fully locked down, it does have a locking pin that snaps in place as soon as you insert it. I ordered an extra plate for camera switching convenience/ All in all, I love the ball head.As to the stability of this tripod, it is light, so it will wobble if you bump it. The smaller end of the telescoping legs are tiny and I suspect they would snap in two if stepped on or pressured them incorrectly. This is a reasonable trade-off for the light weight and low cost. Placed correctly, I found it to be very stable. I am certain that it will not tolerate much abuse, but as long as you treat it well, it should serve you well. I haven't yet tried it with my massive 4+ pound 600mm zoom, but I have every expectation that it can manage it as well as it has the lenses I've tried it with.My final analysis is this is a great tripod for the average photographer who wants something that's easy to move around with. I'm very happy with it so far and I don't believe you can beat this tripod at this price point.

Good value on a quality entry-level tripod. Definitely good as a 1st And /or learning tripod, as well as for a light weight travel or hiking option. Not the sturdiest but can be weighted down to add a bit of stability, And the design/functionality versatility somewhat makes up for that minor (subjectively speaking) con

Its $ per $ the best ratio of quality to price out there. Been using it for 3 years with no issues. It's not a travel rig, but it is not that heavy.

Reversible Center Column Works Great For Macros!

I purchased this tripod in October 2015 and have been using it on a regular basis. I'd been using my old tripod, Velbon Victory 450 for the last 20+ years. It was still a solid, reliable tripod, but I was looking for something a little lighter and more portable. I selected the Dolica GX600B200 Proline GX Series 60-Inch based on the features, price and reviews. My typical work is done outside shooting flowers, nature and still life, or indoors with natural or soft box lighting. Telephoto, fixed macro lenses or extension tubes are my go-tos, shooting anywhere between f1.8 and f11 depending on the situation. The Dolica GX600B200 Proline GX Series 60-Inch has been a great tripod for all around use. I've found it light to carry and fairly sturdy. I miss the three-way brace for added leg stability, but that's the tradeoff for being able to angle the legs as far as these will go. I prefer flip lock legs to the screw type. They are fast and easy to extend evenly with the built in level bubble or to adjust to different angles when my terrain is uneven. I can get nice and low with this tripod with the legs angled almost flat. Although not unique, the spikes in the feet are nice for bracing or digging into the ground for added stability, while the rubber feet are slip resist when screwed out. The head it comes with is pretty fluid and adjustability is nice and tight when locked down in various positions. I can hang my camera bag/backpack (or sandbags) on the hook in the center column for additional stability. It also comes with a really nice carrying/storage bag.I've started a new project of photographing agate slices in macro on a light box. While I'm well versed with macros, this project requires that I shoot straight down in order to get the flattest focal plane possible. I was able to easily reverse the center column. It took a little fiddling with the leg lengths and center column height adjustment in order to be able to straddle myUS ART SUPPLY Lightmaster Jumbo 32.5"" Diagonal Extra Large(A2) 17""x24"" LED Lightbox Board- 12-Volt Super-Bright Ultra-Thin 3/8"" Profile Light Box Pad with 110V AC Power Adapter And Dimmable LED Lamps. Now Includes for FREE: 1 Measuring Overlay Grid And 1 Circle Template/Protractor 1-Year Warrantyfor the correct focal length (pictures attached). I didn't want to put the tripod on top of it. This is setup on a 24""x40"" table. As with manual focus macro work, unless you have delicate touch, cable release and rock solid support your focus will be off and can be difficult (and frustrating) to achieve. I've since purchased aME456 A4 LED Light Box 9x12 Inch Light Pad Only 5mm Ultra-thin USB Power Light Table for Tracingwhich is more than adequate and much easier to work with. It's allowed me to shorten the legs for more stability. I will probably purchase a copy stand at some point, but this tripod will work great until then.I recommend this for anyone who is looking for an affordable, lightweight, stable and versatile tripod for studio work, outdoors or travel.
