Description

The AmScope M150C-PS25 monocular compound microscope has interchangeable 10 x widefield and 25 x widefield eyepieces, a forward-facing nosepiece with three DIN achromatic objectives, LED illumination, a 0.65 NA single-lens condenser, coaxial coarse and fine focus, and a plain stage. The forward-facing revolving nosepiece has 4 x, 10 x, and 40 x DIN achromatic full-glass objectives that provide high-resolution color-corrected images. The monocular viewing head holds WF10 x or WF25 x eyepiece on a fixed 45-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain and has 360-degree rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing. A compound microscope is used for inspection and dissection of specimens when two-dimensional images are desired.

The microscope has lower (diascopic) Brightfield illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. Brightfield (BF) illumination allows the specimen to absorb light, resulting in a dark image on a light background. LED illumination provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens. The 0.65 NA single-lens condenser and disc diaphragm control the amount of light illuminating the specimen. The plain stage is 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches and has an opening for light transmission and stage clips to secure the slide or specimen in place while viewing. A stage stop prevents the stage or specimen from coming into contact with the objectives. Coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs are nested to speed focusing for left-and right-handed viewers. All mechanical components are constructed of metal for precision and durability, and the solid-metal frame has a stain-resistant enamel finish. The microscope is powered by a 110VAC adapter (included). The microscope comes with a set of 25 prepared slides of a variety of plants, animals, and minerals.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.

Great Starter Scope!

My kids and I have really enjoyed this microscope. It was a birthday gift for my 8 year old but I think I have enjoyed it at least as much as he has. I looked at the microscopes marketed for kids and they were all garbage so I decided to get him something that was less of a toy and more of a tool. It's sturdy enough to be abused by an 8 year old and the prepared slides are really fun. I recommend getting slide kits so you can create your own as well. I have actually been able to get decent pictures by cramming my iPhone camera in to the eyepiece. We have looked at cat whiskers, blood (it was mine, extracted via pinprick; don't worry!), leaves, you name it. It's a great learning tool.

I am in love with this microscope! It magnifies so well. I was afraid that with just the battery, that it wouldn't work as well, but it's crystal clear. I definitely recommend it.

This is a real microscope, not a toy, for young scholars and just plain curious alike (and their parents/adults). Read the instructions, it does take some know how to make it work, but it is worth the effort!

I have this my 12 yo for Christmas and he loves it. The slides that come with it are good as well. I did purchase a set of blank slides with it so he can expand his curiosity.

No paperwork

It got here quickly and is really good quality. We have seven students and they're all very excited about the microscope. Not being a scientist myself I'm a little frustrated that it didn't come with a users manual. I can't fathom why there would be no paperwork with this microscope. Other than that, it seems nice we just have to figure out how to use it.

We have a 7-year old and a 3 year-old. Both love to check out stuff through this microscope. We got a camera attachment separately, which makes it easier to see things on the screen vs the eye piece. Need parents' help though, it's a bit too advanced for the kids to use it on their own. Last time we went on a hike we brought many 'treasures' dry leaves, feathers, etc etc. most looked so awesome up close! Definitely recommend!

Great beginner microscope for budding scientists. My 5 year old already mastered how to use it and is endless hours of fun for him. Dont waste your money on the kiddie microscopes and get this one! Comes with pre-mounted slides and image through the microscope is clear and sharp.
