At work, I keep a small portable fan on my desk for additional circulation. However, I recently moved to a different office and found, to my dismay, that the former power/charging cord I was using was not long enough to reach the power outlet. So, I started looking on Amazon for the longest replacement cable I could find. I have to loop this cable completely around the side of my desk, so I needed something longer that even ten feet. What I found was that, while cheap 3- and 6-foot cables were plentiful, there were few longer cables available on Amazon under $10.. Since the Deegotech Micro USB charging cable had good reviews and retailed for about $8 at the time, I ordered it, and I've been very pleased. The Deegotech cable is about 1/8 inch in diameter and comes in two colors, black and white (I ordered the black cable). When it arrived, the cable was wound into a roll about six inches in diameter, but it straightened out fairly easily. The cable itself is very flexible; I can easily bend it double. The cable is solidly attached to the jack on each end by a thicker connection that's about ? inch in diameter. The metal in the connectors is sturdy too; it doesn't bend or warp. As a result, the Deegotech shouldn't damage easily if it is plugged and unplugged on a regular basis. I've seen a variety of cables that can be ordered from Amazon, and the Deegotech is among the more solidly constructed. As far as the operation of the cable is concerned, I've had it for about three weeks and it works perfectly. Although I use it at work as a power cable, I've taken it home at night to test as a charging cable, and it works on my Amazon Kindles. As with all accessories of this nature, users must keep two things in mind. First, this is a charging/power cable and not a data cable. Second, common accessories are designed for a number of different common types of connections. It is essential that you verify from the user's manual or otherwise just what type of connection your device has. The Deegotech cable is a Micro USB charging cable.I use the fan in my office on and off (mostly on) for the better part of a nine-hour day, and the Deegotech cable has performed flawlessly so far and is quite sturdily built. Obviously, I'm not Consumer Reports so I'm somewhat limited in the testing I can do and I don't know if the cable might wear out, although I've never experienced that with any type of charging cable. My feeling is that the fan will wear out long before the cable does. Not everyone needs a 15-foot charging/power cable, but, for those that do, the Deegotech offers good quality at a very reasonable price.
