This type of vacuum fascinates me, because it fulfills the dream of not doing all the vacuuming myself. This is a powerful little thing that does a good job on both hardwood and carpeting. It didn't have a problem with surface changes from hard floor to carpeting, or doorways where there was a seam on the floor between hard surfaces. It also did not fall down steps. The vacuum wasn't annoyingly loud. The suction was good; it picked up the dog hairs. It traveled completely around the rooms, going under chairs and tables where it would fit. It made a complete circuit of each room, in its own fashion. It does not clean the floor back-and-forth in a row-like manner, so don't expect that. It seems to move in a haphazard manner, but it does ultimately cover the entire room. When its charge level goes down, or when it is done, or when the dirt receptacle has to be emptied, it returns to its base. There's an app that goes with this vacuum, and with which you can choose to use to control it or to check its progress. The app seemed to be a bit laggy and could be a bit more intuitive. This type of vacuum is great if you have a lot of open floor area where the vacuum can move freely. It would be great, for example, in a basement family room where it could be left free to keep the room vacuumed without having to lug a big vacuum cleaner downstairs. Ditto for upper floor rooms. If you've got a lot of clutter in your home, this type of vacuum is only going to keep the clear areas clean. This vacuum is good for keeping the daily mess level down, so that when you do drag out the big vacuum, you're just doing the areas that can't be reached by this robot.
