My son used his birthday money to purchase this and is very happy with it. We never have used a telescope so we are learning as we go. You have to put it all together and the directions are not real clear but we figured it out. As far as seeing through it we have been pleased with how clear things are.

For the price, all I can say is wow you will not be disappointed. The scope is a bit annoying to get aligned, but once it is aligned, the views are amazing and very clear. I didn't even have to collimate it like others have pointed out.Absolutely worth the price.

The telescope works very well. Tried it out underneath a street light, hardly ideal conditions. With the lowest power, was able to see Jupiter about the size of a bb, and three of the moons. The spotting scope is the weak point. Should be a better way of securing it so it is at least in the ballpark when you start to adjust it for aim.

You get what you pay for

Celestron should sell this without a spotter scope, since you have to buy a different one, the one they provide is worthless for sure, absolutely can't adjust it any where's close. I would not even classify it as a toy. The equatorial mount is not up to par also. My third problem this Telescope is a Bird Jones(meaning it has a lens already in the bottom of the eyepiece tube) and even after buying a nice collimation laser I find it really difficult to collimate, meaning to use a laser you have to remove the existing Bird Jones style lens. I find the Secondary mirror and Primary mirror hard to work on with Phillips head screws. Finding a good YouTube video for a laser collimation that shows the actual laser adjustment for the mirrors for the 127EQ is no where to be found. The good news is the price is right but you get what you pay for. I probably should have held out for a better and bigger scope $. I had a 8"" Spectrum(which I don't see being made anymore) Equatorial mount that I paid a lot more money for, sold it used for $600 years ago, that was a real gem. You start out with a bargain that you wind up paying a lot more for the accessories and parts to make this work the way it should out of the box. If yours comes properly collimated and you can keep it that way your in luck. Since I got this at a good price guess I'll play with it and buy more parts rather than take it apart and send it back. I gave it three stars because for the size, to start with you don't have a huge outlay of cash. My glass is half empty on this one.

Great telescope. The gears in the tripod are a bit jumpy, not as smooth as I had expected. Overall a nice telescope for the money. Have seen Mars, rings around Saturn, Jupiter and its moons. Looking forward to more fun. Do buy the accessory lens kit, even just for the filters, they help a lot and are worth the money.
