I bought this camera for a trip to Florida I did in July. I wanted something small, that took good quality images, and had a decent optical zoom lens. The Canon Power Shot did all these things. I used it all over Miami, the Everglades, and the Bahamas. It also has very good battery life. A lot of pocket cameras have poor battery endurance. Not this one.I only have one minor complaint about the camera. The buttons/controls are very small on the back. It makes it a little difficult to change settings. Canon could have reduced the sized of the screen and made the controls bigger. But I consider it a small inconvenience. It's still a great camera. And it's only a couple bills. It's a a good price for what you're getting.

Small, Easy to Carry, Clarity of Pictures, Optical Zoom Not to the full 25x

I always put negatives first. 1. The clarity of this camera at 25x is not as clear as you would expect. 2. I find that the colors lean to the blue and purple and that if you have a flower or something that is more brown or orange, the color will not be accurate. I cannot find anything that will adjust color on this camera. 3. It does have the usual lag time after taking a picture, (not just for this Elph Powershots but common to the point and shoots. So here are the positives. 1.This camera has detail that is amazing. 2. You can get clarity of shots, particularly with outdoor shots quickly. The focus fixer is fast and the HD is really an HD. It keeps the focus as the person moves towards you or away from youor the bird or the fish, or the dog. 3. I have been astounded at the battery life. I have had the camera, probably shot 400 pictures and 15-20 movies and have only recharged the battery once. 4. I love how easy it is to use. It fits easily in your hand and the back side view is big. That is helpful for old eyes but also for anyone who is trying to frame their photo. I usually prefer looking through a viewfinder and always do so with my bigger powershot, and my DSLR's, but sometimes you just want to quick flick out a decent picture. I LOVE this camera. 5. Indoor pictures are really good as well. Use the Program option and heighten the ISO to 400 higher may be grainy although I have not found that to be too bad, and if you need the flash, this little flash close up, (indoors) does the trick. Don't try it with any major zoom or you will not get the benefit of the flash. So, over all, I love the camera. I will edit this review over time if something happens, but I am using it at the beach (tough for the camera with sand and just the salty air) and in the mountains where there is a lot of fog and rain. It isn't water proof but a baggy helps. Canon. Thanks.

Yet another Canon?

Sometimes you accidentally knock things around and they break, get damaged and whatever. Sometimes you let someone take a picture near the pier in Myrtle Beach. Things happen, especially around grandkids. It's called life. You just get one to replace it. Sometimes the little brats grab your camera to take a ""once in a lifetime picture"" while riding a bull in the pool? What was he thinking? It's called life happens.

Non-intuitive setup.

I like that it is compact and takes good pictures.I don't like the software to make the wifi connection between the camera and internet. It reminds me of the Panasonic Video recorders of the 90s that were so difficult to program.I needed to speak with customer support to get the software functioning so I could transmit photos to my android phone.I have to thank the tech Kevin for his help; apparently many people have the same difficulty that I had.I would recommend watching the You Tube video on setup, but calling Canon Support to set up the camera.BTW I was disconnected 2X when calling Canon support. If you dislike dealing with non-intuitive software, then skip this camera and upgrade to a smart phone with a high resolution camera andmost importantly, user friendly functions from either Google Android or Apple.

Replaced my S7000 Nikon that was having focusing problems with this Cannon. Can't get the resolution I got with the Nikon. Decent pictures, but not great. Grainy at times.

Still the best optics of all the point and shoots

Still the best optics of all the point and shoots. Great image stabilization. Wish it had some of the manual/programmable features of earlier Canon Powershot point and shoots - but I guess most people really DO just want to point, let the camera make the decisions, and shoot. Great resolution. Decent features for the price.Doesn't have RAW support, but the images don't need virtually any (serious) manipulation when they get over to the computer, so don't miss it too much. Fills the niche between a smartphone camera and a DSLR very nicely. Pleased.

Gave this camera to our nephew who did a semester abroad in Australia. The pictures he sent back are really nice! It's compact and feature-packed, and the CMOS sensor produces vibrant pictures. Highly recommend this camera!
