If this is your first time with cast iron cookware, you'll want to clean it and give it a proper coat of home seasoning (oil) prior to using it. It's not like that teflon stuff you get in the big box store. But once seasoned, this does a great job of cooking and boiling with no sticking or teflon flakes on your food. It is a solid dutch oven, with a well fitting lid, that works great in my kitchen. It is on the small side, perfect for side dishes, rice, etc. The price is right and the quality is spot-on. After a few months of use, no signs of rust or other issues. Recommended!
