So i'm a mom with a 10 year old son who has been begging for a PS4 headset. According to him, it had to have a Mic, and these were the ones he was asking for.I will be upfront about the fact that I don't know much about new age gaming, but I am technology savy. I can say that these work for him so far, so good. We're going on 4 months with no issues.According to him, the sound is good and they are comfortable on his head. He just plugs the cord into his controller and he's good to go.My son naturally has a loud voice, and when he's super excited in the middle of a Fortnight battle, ""Let's go to tilted!"" or ""No, it's a trap!"" I sometimes hear him afterwards say, ""I'm not even yelling?"" So i'm assuming the volume works good if they are asking him to stop yelling in their ears! The volume is also adjustable, and there is a mute button as well.As far as background noise, I know he can hear the background of his friends, because sometimes he'll comment on something one of their parents said or he'll ask his friends who that is in the background. My son is not allowed to play with people he doesn't know, but it seems that the headphones have opened up a new world of networking for him. He has many more friends on his list than before, and if I see someone I dont recognize, his answer is usually, Oh that's ""so-n-so's"" classmate, cousin, friend, etc.Not too sure how I feel about that. Once I heard him tell someone he was playing with, ""I'm not telling you where I live dude"" so I would advise for parents of younger kids to just be observant. My son plays in the living room, and once in a while i'll do random checks by asking him to unplug the headphones for 10 minutes so I can hear who he's playing with and what they're saying. When I ask, he knows he is to do it right then and there, no questions asked.Overall this is a good quality headset and for now my 10 year old beginner is happy with them. I'm happy I didn't go with anything more expensive, as these do the job just fine.
