After nearly 2 years, here is my review

Having geocached since 2003 I've gone through several gps units including the Garmin Map 60cx, 62s and just recently purchased a 64s. I learned from the Map 60cx (used 2009 to 2011) that the print on the buttons wear off easily. So when my Map 62s came along in 2011, I made sure to get a protective case. This was and still is the only reasonably priced case around it seems. The clear plastic on top protects but it does make it hard to hit the buttons. Eventually scratches appeared on the screen portion so I carefully cut out that part, leaving the buttons covered. Then I put a regular stick-on screen protector on (leftover from my phone And cut to fit). Yes, this was the first case I got and I finally gave in and bought another one in April 2014 for my 3 year old 62s. Fast forward to 2016 and my case is in good enough shape to protect my 64s which I just got. It did annoy me that you had to take off the clip and the case to change the batteries of the 62s and do the same just to access the mini usb port. The new 64s can be charged without removing the batteries but the problem with the usb access remained. I decided to cut apart the upper left section of the back and this has solved everything now. I have a strip of thin double sided Velcro to hold it together. I also stuck a piece of the Velcro to cover the hole on the bottom, The hook side of the Velcro sticks nicely to the inner lining of the case so no sewing is needed. I did use some fabric glue to seal the raw edges and then painted the glue with a black sharpie pen when dry. Maybe Garmin will think about re-designing the case this way :)

Anything more is unnecessary

I bought this for the original GPSMAP 62 after looking at other cases and without the unit itself arriving. After working with the GPS for a few days, I firmly believe that anything further is unnecessary for protection. The unit itself is very robust and water resistant. This provides another thin layer of drop protection and serves as a screen protector. The only negative, and it's small and could possibly work itself out with use, is when you push buttons it makes a little squeaky noise. I don't know if this is from the plastic meeting the buttons or in the seam between the plastic and neoprene. Unless you're in a tactical/hunting environment it probably wouldn't even be an issue.

I bought this for my GPSMap 64s, as the 64 series and 62 series are the same externally. The case came promptly and fits snug and perfectly! I wanted this just as protection when the GPS is banging around in the car (I usually keep it in a door pocket) but sometimes I keep the case on the unit while Geocaching. It isn't a problem pushing the buttons through the clear plastic. The only negative I can think of is that sometimes reflections on the plastic cover make the screen harder to read - but that's a minor nuisance.Unlike some other reviewers, I don't have a problem with the rear belt clip as I have a lanyard attached to my 64s and never have the belt clip attached. I do find it easiest to un-clip the lanyard when slipping on or removing the case but that's quick to do. Overall, I'm pleased with this case and think it's a good value.

Good case to protect your Garmin GPSMAP64

Excellent case. While I wish it was solid and covered the back and bottom to provide more grit and dust protection (yes, I know the gps is waterproof, but it's more about keeping it clean) I understand the why of the case design. It accommodates mounting rather well as a result of the cutouts. I take away 1/2 star (if that were possible) because the case must be undone to open up the port to plug in USB or antenna, and in light of the massive cutouts for the mounting, this oversight seems kind of inexcusable.

Fits perfectly, openings are perfectly placed, see-thru screen is nice and clear. So far has proven to be durable, and screen has remained clear and unscratched.

Tightmaybe a bit too tight

Bought this for my new Garmin 62s. I found the quality to be very good and the stitching is good, too. The acetate window on the face does hinder the view of the screen a bit, but that is to be expected. This case is to keep the unit clean and dry, but isn't made to make it easier. But I did find that this case is very tight. In fact, the velcro closure barely grabs onto itself. Its not like it will fall out, because its in pretty good and the back loop with caribiner keeps it secure in its case. All in all, this is worth the $15 I paid. A must to keep it clean and scratch-free, even if only in storage or in your backpack.

The case is pretty tight, the velcro flap on the top isn't

The case is pretty tight, the velcro flap on the top isn't quite long enough and just become flaps at the top of the gps. Sometimes its a bit hard to see through the plastic to the screen due to reflections and I end up taking the gps out of the case just to see the screen. It does provide protection though and has saved my screen from scratches.

I purchased this for my Garmin 64s gps unit and it fit perfectly. The back is a tight fit around the belt clip but otherwise no other issues.

The first one I ordered didn't fit, and Amazon sent me another really fast. It fits my Garmin GPSmap 62s perfectly. I'm happy with it so far, but haven't taken it out in the field yet. It does provide a better grip, and of course will offer some protection to the unit. I'm wondering how long the plastic window will hold up without getting so scratched up I can't see the screen through it. But so far I like it a lot. It seems to be very well made.

Perfectly fitting protective case for Garmin 62S

This high-quality custom-fitting case is perfectly designed for the Garmin 62S. The GPS unit easily slips into it from the top and although snug, all of the seams and the position of the clear plastic screen and keyboard cover are in exactly the right places. A simple velcro strap on top of the unit secures it, it is not coming off until you want it to. Great rain and dust protection, improves your grip on the GPS unit, feels great in the hand. Highly recommended.

Works for GPSMAP 64 as well

This also works for a GPSMAP 64. It does a great job of protecting the GPS if you accidentally drop it on the trail. The main downsides are that you need to remove the case to change the batteries, You need to remove the belt clip to remove the case. It can be challenging using the buttons through the plastic window. The screen on the 64 seems a little dark when viewed through the plastic cover. Of course, the screen on the 64 in general is darker than the screen on previous models such as the GPSMAP 60.
