Fourth time I've had to Replace a Broken Spring on my GE French Door Refrigerator (Samsung Clip is Compatible with GE)
by Valued Customer on May 22, 2017

If I could give the GE and Samsung engineers ONE STAR on the design/durability, I would. This is the FOURTH time in 9 years of owning our GE refrigerator that I've had to replace a broken spring. The last three times I purchased the GE spring (OEM Part - Manufacturer #WR02X12650), this time I'm going to use the Samsung spring. The Samsung spring is the same spring as the GE spring for my GE model (PFSS6PKXASS) so I'm going to see how long this one lasts. This spring enables the vertical flap that is on the left french door to automatically return to position to close. Once the spring breaks, the flap will not always go flush to the door and will prevent you from closing both doors without manually moving the flap to the flush position.INSTALLATION: The spring has two vertical ends to it, one is a 90 degree angle and the other is a bit crooked before it goes up a 90 degrees. The straight 90 degree angle side should face the bottom. To install it, you need to put the top crooked side in first, pull the flap as much as you can toward the refrigerator and then install the bottom side. The spring should keep the flap flush to the door.

The end of a chirping Samsung refrigerator

I have a Samsung refrigerator with large (French doors) on the top. In order to seal properly, this small spring causes the left hand door to close in the proper manner. The original spring, which is quite small, failed, and the door would not close properly without some manipulation by the user. I guess I never realized how often I opened the fridge until I had to fiddle with it to keep it from making that chirping sound that means, ""Hey, my doors are not properly closed."" Anyway, hubby said calling a repairman for a tiny spring would be crazy, so I did some research and found that this spring would do the trick. I ordered it, and within a couple of days, we had the solution to an annoying problem. Great little replacement part!

We were told that we would have to buy the entire mullion flap assembly and then have a vendor install it. The vendor gave a price of no less than $200.00 dollars if they ordered it for us and installed it with warranty. We found the spring on Amazon, which seemed to us was all we really needed. Received the part within a couple of days; watched a you-tube video on how to install. Installed it in less than five minutes and voila! Door is back to working perfectly for under $7.00.New part even looks a little bit more substantial than the original part we took out. Can't get much better than that!

No Need to Call an Expensive Repair Person to fix Refridgerator Door if Spring was Broken

A life saver. My local handyman fixed my Samsung refrigerator door using this spring after the original spring broke - at a tiny fraction of the price the official repair would have cost. Not self-evident how to insert (instructions were absent) but if you look hard, you'll figure it out.

Quality Part

Quality part. It was a bit difficult to replace the old one as some tension is needed to get it to pop into place. Was afraid I was going to break something but decided to add a bit more pressure and try again. Perfect fit and overall an easy affordable piece to replace.

found this piece on the floor one day and had NO clue what it went to so I tossed it. Realized it was for my fridge - had NO clue how I was going to fix the door, then came on Amazon and found THIS exact piece - installed it on the door and voila - all done! :-)

Right part for the spring in the French door of the fridge.

I have a Samsung French door refrigerator and the small spring broke that closes the piece between the two upper doors. I bought this spring and easily installed it into the spot at the bottom of the door and now my door works like before. I am so glad to be able to find a replacement product for my fridge here on Amazon.

OEM replacement for a failed spring.

Honestly, I don't love my damn fridge, but this is a direct replacement part that fatigued and broke. So I replaced it. It's OEM, and it drops right in without too much trouble. Though I did order a spare for when I'm assuming this one will inevitably fatigue and break itself. Hopefully I get a few more years on it.

Fixed my door. This doesn't seem like a high quality spring so I will probably order another as a backup. Door is really annoying when it doesn't have this.

Springs works as it should.

My existing spring broke on my Samsung 3-year old french door refrigerator, Model Number: RF197ACPN/XAA. (18 cu ft) This is the spring that keeps the divider between the doors in the correct position when you open the left door. When this spring breaks, the divider just flaps around making it difficult to close the door. It took me a minute or so to replace the spring. It's a little tricky because you have to really flex the spring to get it into the 2nd hole. I was worried that I was going to either break the spring or the plastic part that it goes into. It worked out fine and the door now works as it should. This little spring sure gets a lot of wear And tear and I'm expecting it to break again in a few years. Seems like a poor design, IMHO.

Such a simple fix (though the disassembly instructions tempt me to give it 4 stars. Still, YouTube will show you how to disassemble.
