The Canon Vixia HFR80 HD take great movies and great pictures. How do I know? Well, you can take a movie from the camera and play it on a 55"" television and it looks perfect. Almost like being there. Pretty impressive. (And with the HDMI cable that comes with the camera, you can play it directly on a tvno need for computer, etc.)The camera is hand-sized. It has a strap on the side, so that you can hold it is your right hand and have access to the zoom and on/off keys. When taking pictures the anti-shake function works well (especially nice for one of advanced age, such as myself), although it will have some movement just from holding it, unless you put it on a tripod. The screen is large and you can control over how bright it is, which means you can take pictures in a dim house or outside in the bright sun.The movies can be saved to the internal memory or to the memory card (don't get a micro card and adapter, at least, it didn't work for me). Then the memory card can be transferred to a computer. Alternatively, the USB can be used to transfer movies to a computer. It has a wi-fi function, but it was too easy to use the USB.The zoom works well. I was taking a picture of a mama bear and her two cubs. I was a distance away so all you could see was a vague outline. I zoomed it in and you can see the mama and cubs eating grass. Wow! And I didn't have to risk my life for it I also got some great pictures of rivers andwell, it was a great vacation, but that is not why you are reading this review. The movies are in standard format so you can edit them with any editing ap. The battery charges on the camera and can be used a lot before being recharged. The camera comes with everything you need to start taking movies. You will want to add an SD/HD card for extra memory and you have it all. Enjoy!
