Bought this April, 2018. I use the product as stand alone, no internet or interface with wifi, phone etc.Works very well. People complain about the software, however for my needs you can figure it out in two weeks of exploring the interface. Pros: can select alarm function or schedule or Both for recording. Can select areas of sensitivity so you can eliminate moving branches, wind chimes etc. You can select level of sensitivity, that is, how sensitive the sensor should be - useful for buggy locations. You can do searches on recordings and copy to a thumb drive. The cameras! They are AHD - Analog High Definition! They work well. Problem is the zoom functions only blurs the image on playback. Seems the 4MP expands the size of the image making it grainy. Cameras generate much IR light, distance good, however you can see the red glow if you look for it. Cameras do best during the day for detailed recording, at night when the subject is in motion, like a car, the vision is blurry. I think this is likely true for any system you purchase. There is one thing I highly recommend, get a varifocal 4MP dome camera. I purchased one which goes 2.8 to 12 mm with 36 IR leds. The one I purchased was Westshine 4MP Security AHD Camera 2.8mm-12mm Varifocal Lens Dome Camera TVI/CVI/AHD/CVBS IR-CUT 36 IR Leds 100ft Night Vision Indoor Outdoor Camera with OSD Menu (Varifocal 4MP) for $58 is was a great add-on to this system.
